That's Not My Fairy [ePub]

by Fiona Watt

This is a 'touchy feely' book about a fairy and what she should look like. Every page has a part of the fairy that is made using different materials, allowing children to touch.

This is a good book to get children interested and interacting with books, engaging in the words being said and looking at the pictures. It allows the child to explore their visual and touching senses, becoming familiar with the different textures and as they get older, they will become familiar with the link between the word and the texture, e.g. fluffy. I would say that this book is suitable for children as young as seven months with adult supervision right up to around the age of three. It could be used in an early years setting to explore the senses and to associate describing words with the texture.
