Re-read the original book RIGHT AFTER reading this book!
The original book suddenly became much richer and more enticing after I finished this Behind the Story, I HAD to open up the original book once more! Highly recommended!

Blood, Bones & Butter is an amazing book that will take you by surprise mostly because it delivers much more than is implied in its title. Although it sets off as a book on cooking and on how to fill hunger, the book becomes more personal through the eyes of the writer, and from her experiences we get a glimpse of what it takes to become a good chef. Gabrielle Hamilton embarked on writing this book out of her need to share with the world bits and pieces of her 20-year experience in cooking. She had been talking about cooking and her personal experience with it in her articles in magazines and newspapers, which gave the world a very good idea of her writing talent. Thus, when she decided to make a memoir of her experiences, she could only get influenced by her life and everything she had gone through.
Her primary goal and intention was to write a book on food, which she loves so much. She was very excited and aware of what she wanted to include. Thus, when she began exploring the food parameters, she knew that she would have to include many personal moments and menu instances from her family life. As she has stated, food is part of a family, and you cannot mention one without the other. This means that in her clear-cut, honest narration, she sheds all pretenses
