The Marrow of Modern Divinity [ePub]

by Edward Fisher

The opposite errors of legalism and antinomianism have plagued the Christian Church since the beginning. This Reformed classic, written in the form of a dialogue between a minister, a new convert, a legalist, and an antinomian, emphasizes essential biblical doctrines such as the sovereignty of God in the covenant of grace, assurance in Christ as the essence of faith, and sanctification by grace rather than by the law. The eminent Puritan preacher, Thomas Boston, was greatly impressed by this book and added his own extensive notes that further expounded the rich theological truths of the original text.
